09:50 am - "Can you see the ninja?"
Last night was fun. I think my ninja costume was okay, if not perfect. The residents of two entire dorm buildings turned (most of) their floors into a haunted house. I got to lead little kids through it, and they got bucketsfull of candy. Whee! Pug went as a Jedi, and there was some guy there as Jango Fett. Heehee. Pug said they spent a few minutes eyeing each other warily.
I felt pretty bad for awhile; the first kida arrived, and I went up to say hi. The little guy was only two or so, and when he saw me, he started crying! =( Yeah, I felt mean.
Some of the kids' costumes were pretty cute; there was this little boy in a Hulk costume, who kept making "muscle" poses and going, "Rar!" heehee. In my group of kids there was a little girl who kept saying, "It's all so exciting." She and her dad disappeared after a few floors, I wasn't sure if they just left, or what. =/ All the rest of my group were five boys, ranging from about 3 years to 11 or 12, I think. The littlest one had to be carried by his dad; he got too scared. =( The next two youngest kept saying that they couldn't be scared, but I had to dole out a few hugs when they got too frightened. ;) All in all, tho, I think they had a good time. Besides, there was an enormous amount of candy given out. O.O
Before the kids arrived, I sat outside for awhile, between two buildings, on a grassy knoll, watching the road. It was a good lying-in-wait spot; I could hear anyone walking along the sidewalk behind me, since it was covered, and echoed nicely; and I was hidden from two-and-a-half sides. I sat there for quite awhile, in full costume, with my jo staff held across my knees. Apparently, tho, there was still a class being held in the builidng to my left. So as I was leading my group of kids through one of the floors this girl came up to me and said, "Oh my God! I saw you sitting outside, and it freaked me out! I thought no one else could see you! I poked my boyfriend, and asked him, 'Can you see the ninja?'" That one encounter alone made my costume perfect. =D Now I just have to find some tabi boots...
Oops. The cat shelter thing was last Saturday. =( Oh, well. They're having another next month.
